This surprising fruit is a relative to avocado, originating from Borneo. The taste is like mushrooms with cheese with a consistency also like steamed mushrooms. Good for salads or as a side dish. It has to be eaten super ripe otherwise it burns the mouth. In Borneo before consumption they soak it in hot water or bruise it and let it sit for about 10-20 minutes.
The seedlings are a good rootstock for avocado.
